Welcoming two BRAND NEW CLASSES
and terrific NEW INSTRUCTORS

Dragons! Pirates! Cowgirls! Mastodon-sized dung beetles! Children’s fiction never fails to let a writer’s imagination go wild. In this hands-on workshop, writers with an interest in picture books, middle grade, or YA fiction will learn how to craft compelling stories and characters that will make young readers want to keep turning pages. Works in progress will be constructively critiqued in a supportive environment. In-class writing prompts will keep the creative spirit nimble. And real world advice on the publishing industry will help your completed manuscript stand out in a crowd.

Do you love poetry but have no idea how to write it? Do you wonder how to bring a fully engaging poem into the world? In this beginner, generative workshop, we will focus on discovering your own creativity and unleashing your individual voice. By reading contemporary (and not so contemporary) poetry, we’ll help connect your writing to the traditions of poetry, experimenting with free verse, sonnets, confessional, list poems, lyrical poems and more. You do not need any previous experience with writing or formal poetry. All you need is a pen, notebook (or laptop) and an open mind!

And
SUMMER is just around the corner!

2019 Summer Creative Writing Intensives
at Drew University

If your Teen loves to write,

The Writers Circle is the perfect place to hone their craft in a generous, creative environment.

Three Week-long Intensives -
Writing Daily, 9:00 AM-3:30 PM

Week 1: July 22-26

Week 2: July 29-August 2
Week 3: August 5-9

at Drew University, Madison, NJ

Join us for one, two, or all three weeks!

For teens who love to write, The Writers Circle’s Summer Creative Writing Intensives are the perfect place to hone their craft. Students will develop their voices and writing ideas in a generous, creative environment with professional authors as instructors. Each week they’ll choose from two different genres to focus on - fiction, poetry, memoir, sci-fi/fantasy, and more. They’ll focus on their own writing projects as well as new work inspired by creative exercises and prompts. They’ll receive supportive, constructive feedback from instructors and peers. Special excursions, literary inter-activities, and a reading on Fridays for family and friends will round out the week. They’ll also have the chance to submit their work for publication in The Writers Circle's online journal.
