at Morristown Unitarian Fellowship
21 Normandy Heights Rd, Morristown, NJ
You’ve finished your first draft. Now it’s time to unleash your inner editor. Revision is how you turn your great concept or story into a great piece of writing. This intensive, two-day workshop offers effective, practical strategies for successfully revising any piece of work, whether fiction or nonfiction, a full-length novel or a thousand-word essay. We’ll cover techniques to help focus your premise, see your writing objectively, improve organization and narrative structure, strategize composition, add punch and vividness, and polish sentences until they shine. If revision makes the writer, your inner editor is the ally who helps you hone that skill.
Writers should bring one finished essay, story, or chapter (2,000 words max).
ONLY 15 SLOTS AVAILABLE

New Spring Class!
The Business of Being a Freelance Writer
with Steph Auteri
Tuesdays, 7-9 PM in Montclair
Making time to write is one thing. Making a career out of it is another thing entirely. In this class, we'll cover everything from generating story ideas and researching writing markets to writing an effective query letter, setting rates, deciphering contracts, and building up your platform. By the end of this session, you'll have a firm plan in place for sending your work out into the world.
Steph Auteri has written about women’s health and sexuality for the Atlantic, Pacific Standard, the Washington Post, VICE, and other publications. She is also regular contributor to Book Riot, and an editor for Simplemost. Steph’s reported memoir,
A Dirty Word, is out from Cleis Press in October 2018.
