SPRING FORWARD!
|
|
Happy first day of Spring!
Despite the recent late-season blizzard, we sense in our bones that spring is around the corner. We're prepared to spring forward with a renewed sense of what we can accomplish in the bright days ahead.
The list of publications from TWC's instructors and students just keeps growing. We're proud of them all. But publication isn't the only way to succeed through your writing. Giving yourself permission to write, sharing your work, and improving your craft are all ways to grow every time you sit down with your keyboard or notepad. With every word, you spring forward. |

And now our STUDENTS:
After workshopping an excerpt of his memoir in Steph Auteri's memoir class, Ken Murray brought the story to a Moth StorySLAM event, where he won first place. He'll be going on to compete in the GrandSLAM Championship on June 28 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
Michelle Cameron's Novel Continuum student Laura Romain published an article in
Shape, "An Open Letter to Anyone Hiding an Eating Disorder."
Stacey Loscalzo wrote a piece in Steph Auteri's Writing as Advocacy workshop that was published on
Book Riot, the most highly trafficked book blog in North America: "Reading Horror in the Trump Era."
Also as a result of work written in the Writing as Advocacy workshop, Action Together NJ invited Beth Meleski to be on their official Letters to the Editor committee. Beth is now working on talking points for their letter-writing campaign regarding healthcare.
Summer Intensive student Payton P. won a national silver medal in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for "Black Wedding," written during the 2016 Summer Creative Writing Intensive.

Let spring propel your writing forward. Make sure you are feeding your soul with whatever you write - and while publication is a wonderful outcome, remember that the true joy has to come from sitting down and letting the words flow.
Good writing, everyone!
